Man arrested for one burglary and is a person of interest for 11 other burglary incidents

A man is in custody in connection with a string of burglaries which took place July 3, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office press release.
On July 3, sheriff's office deputies responded to an early morning call of an attempted first-degree burglary in the 700 to 1000 blocks of Spring Bank Road. After patrol officers could not find a suspect at the location, they received another call of a first-degree burglary in progress on Bett Drive, just behind the location of the previous call. While investigating there, the officers received a third call from a location just down the street, and responded to that as well.
During the investigation, officers found that the suspect had attempted to enter nine other locations, according to the release.
Crime scene detectives collected evidence from each locations and submitted it to the North Carolina Crime Lab for processing.
In the following months, detectives worked several leads, which led to the arrest of Lyneil Antonio Washington Jr., 28, of 1459 N.C. 111 South, in connection with one of the cases. Sheriff's department Capt. Shawn Harris said he did not know which case Washington had been charged in, but that he is a "person of interest" in the entire string of burglaries.
Washington was charged with first-degree burglary, resisting an officer and violation of a court order. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $105,500 secured bond.
The sheriff's office detective division is working with the Wayne County District Attorney's office and the NCCL, and more charges are pending, according to the release.
