Two men face charges after deputies find 648 grams of marijuana

Two Fayetteville men are facing charges after Wayne County Sheriff's deputies reportedly found a large amount of drugs inside their car when they went through a traffic checkpoint on U.S. 70 early Sunday morning.

Mauriceo Jacquay Garvin, 29, of 4210 David St. Apt. B, Fayetteville, is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of MDMA and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kamari Shaekoan White, 22, of 2013 Glenwick Drive, Fayetteville, is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A press release said Garvin pulled up to the traffic checkpoint and deputies smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car.

They pulled the car off the side of the road for further investigation, and K-9 Ory alerted that there were drugs in the car, according to the release.

Deputies searched the car and reportedly found 648 grams of marijuana, four grams of MDMA and a stolen firearm inside.

Garvin was given a $20,000 secured bond and White was given a $11,000 secured bond on the charges.
