Local, state offices to close

Federal, state and local offices, banks and post offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Wayne County Public Schools and Wayne Community College will be closed.

All Wayne County government offices will be closed including the Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center and all branches of the Wayne County Public Library

The Wayne County landfill and convenience centers will be closed. The landfill, which is normally closed on Wednesdays, will be open on Wednesday, Sept. 6, but the convenience centers will be closed.

City of Goldsboro government offices will also be closed on Labor Day. Solid waste services, including trash pickup, for Monday, Sept. 4, will be serviced instead on Wednesday. Bulk waste services are canceled for the holiday week and will reconvene on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Mount Olive town offices and the town's recyclable center will be closed.

Household garbage pickup will not be affected.

Yard waste will be picked up Tuesday through Friday.

Pikeville town hall will be closed on Labor Day. Town services will not be affected.

Walnut Creek, Fremont and Eureka town halls will be closed on Labor Day. No town services will be affected.

The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority will operate on a Saturday schedule on Labor Day.

The bus service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
