More batteries were reported stolen from Wayne County Public Schools buses this week, but police don't think it is connected to a case earlier this year.
A school system employee reported the battery theft to police Monday.
The employee told police the buses, parked at Dillard Academy, had not been checked on since the end of the school year.
When the employee was preparing the buses for the upcoming school year Monday, he discovered six batteries had been taken from three school buses.
Maj. Dwayne Dean with the Goldbsoro Police Department said Maya Lamont Arline, who was arrested and charged for stealing 26 bus batteries in early July, was not believed to be responsible for the recently reported theft.
Dean said there are no suspects in the battery theft reported Monday.
A police report said no work had been done on the school buses since the end of the year.
