Pikeville ----  Police arrested a man Friday on marijuana charges, according to a Pikeville Police Department press release.

Pikeville officers were conducting a traffic checkpoint on U.S. 117 North near Duck Pond Lane Friday as part of the "Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine" highway safety campaign.

While there, the officers stopped a black Ford Focus driven by Jonathan Lee Pritchette, 25, of 6855 U.S. 117 N., Fremont. After smelling marijuana from inside the car, the officers searched the vehicle and found 4.1 ounces of marijuana, valued at around $2,500, according to the press release.

The officers also found scales and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, the release said.

Pritchette was charged with possession with intent to sell/distribute marijuana, maintaining a vehicle and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Wayne County Magistrate's Office and given a $3,500 secured bond.
