Former 4th Fighter Wing commander named head of 19th Air Force

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein has announced the assignment of a former 4th Fighter Wing commander as commander of the 19th Air Force stationed at JBSA-Randolph, Texas.

Brig. Gen. Patrick Doherty was commader of the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base from 2010 until 2012.

He currently serves as commander of the 82nd Training Wing at Sheppard AFB, Texas.

Doherty will replace Maj. Gen. James Hecker, who has led the numbered Air Force, which is responsible for training some 30,000 U.S. and allied students each year since June 2015.
