A Pikeville man is in custody after officers discovered drugs and a stolen weapon in his car in late December, according to a press release from the Pikeville Police Department.

On Dec. 29, Pikeville police officers pulled over Dequinta Laquell Horne, 24, of 272 Ivey Lane in Pikeville for what Pikeville Police Chief Craig Edwins said was a registration violation.

According to the press release, the officers could smell marijuana coming from Horne's vehicle, and conducted a search. They found marijuana, paraphernalia, and a .45 caliber handgun, which matched a firearm on the Wayne County Sheriff's Office list of stolen firearms.

Horne was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon. He has taken to the Wayne County Magistrates Office, where he received a $3,500 secured bond.
