Three charged with attempted murder in December shooting

The Goldsboro Police Department arrested three people Tuesday night for attempted first-degree murder charges stemming from a shooting in December.
On Dec. 18, at 5:10 p.m., Kenya Artis reported he was shot while behind 911-B Fairview Circle. After being shot, he was phycially beaten, according to a press release.
Artis was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital before being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Daquan Almonta Simms, 19, of 912 N. Madison Ave., Sherese Antoinette Cooper, 30, and Dakwan Denario Bizzell, 22 -- both of 911-B Fairview Circle -- are each charged with felony attempted first-degree murder in connection to the shooting and assault.
They were each given a $500,000 secured bond and put in the Wayne County Jail. All three had their first appearance in Wayne County District Court, Wednesday.
Maj. Anthony Carmon, head of the Police Department's Investigative Services Bureau, said Simms is the person who actually shot Artis.
"It was some sort of domestic-type disturbance, but the actual 'why the shot was fired,' we don't know, but it was in the middle of a domestic-type disturbance," Carmon said.
According to arrest reports, Simms was arrested at his home on North Madison Avenue around 9:15 p.m., and Cooper and Bizzell were arrested at their home at Fairview Circle, around 9:30 p.m.
Carmon said while Bizzell and Cooper both live where the incident happened, they were not being cooperative at the time that it happened.
