A man was detained by a Walmart loss prevention officer after he allegedly stuffed a pair of men's crew socks, a Timex watch and a pack of hamburger meat into the waistband of his shorts.

Goldsboro police were called to the Spence Avenue Walmart where the incident occurred Friday.

Store personnel told police that the male suspect grabbed the items off of the shelf and put them into the waistband of his shorts and then left the building.

Store personnel followed him outside and told him to go to the store office. The man did so without incident.

The socks were valued at $13.98, the watch at $16 and the hamburger meat at $10.23.

All of the items were recovered.
