Thieves use garbage can to haul off loot

A city garbage can appears to have been used as a getaway vehicle by two thieves to haul off nearly $2,400 in items taken during a break-in at the home of Joseph Guevremont, 28, 1512 Palm St.
Guevremont told police he returned home from work Friday around 5 p.m. to find a rear door and rear bathroom window had been broken out.
Reported stolen were a LED TV valued at $400,; 22 ounces of pure silver valued at $1,000; Gucci eyeglasses, $525; men's silver ring, $300; men's wedding band, $300; passport, $160; miscellaneous coins, $22; and a city garbage can, $44.
Damages totaled $200 to two windows.
A witness told police they had seen two young black men pulling the garbage can that was full of items the witness could not recognize off the curb at North Jefferson and Palm Street.
