Man sentenced for selling cocaine

RALEIGH -- The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina announced that in federal court on August 30 John Abney Sr., 54, of Pollocksville was sentenced to 300 months imprisonment for selling cocaine.
Abney pleaded guilty in May to distributing more than five kilograms of cocaine, 280 grams of crack, and a quantity of oxycodone and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking activity.
Authorities seized $187,000 in drug proceeds and two firearms, as well as varying quantities of cocaine, crack, marijuana, and methadone.
The investigation was conducted by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, Jones County Sheriff's Office, Jacksonville Police Department, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
