A man with several outstanding warrants was arrested Thursday after leading officers on a vehicle and foot chase, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Tyrik Deontre Joyner, 20, of 1807 Day Circle was arrested and charged with a long list of offenses after sheriff's office and Golds-boro police officers identified and chased him down Ash Street and Oak Street.

The incident stemmed from the investigation of a shooting into an occupied residence a week prior. According to the release, Capt. Robert Thaxton and Maj. Fane Greenfield of the sheriff's office received information on the suspect and the suspect vehicle from officers on the scene. On Thursday, Thaxton reportedly saw a vehicle and driver matching that description while driving on Ash Street, and followed the vehicle on to James Street, where it stopped.

According to the release, when Thaxton approached the driver and attempted to identify him, the driver drove off at a fast pace. Thaxton then reportedly pursued the driver and called for assistance. Officers from the sheriff's office and the police department responded.

The driver then reportedly exited the car and fled on foot, at which point officers temporarily lost him. Officers and K-9 units from both agencies assisted in the search for the driver, who had by that point been identified as Joyner, according to the release.

Soon afterward, Joyner was reportedly seen exiting a vacant house and detained after a brief foot chase. He was arrested on outstanding warrant for four counts of felony discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or vehicle, two counts of injury to personal property, one count of driving while license revoked, and seven orders for arrest. Thaxton also charged Joyner with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, driving while license revoked, and injury to personal property, according to the release.

Joyner was placed in Wayne County Detention Center under a total secure bond of $3,105,000. He was set to appear in court for the first time Friday.
