Local offices to close Monday

Local, state and federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Wayne Community College and the Wayne County Public Schools and the school system's central office will be closed.

All Wayne County government offices, libraries, landfill and convenience sites will be closed and will return to regular schedules Tuesday, Sept. 6.

City of Goldsboro offices and recreation centers will be closed Monday. Trash services scheduled Monday will be serviced on Wednesday.

Town halls in Mount Olive, Pikeville, Fremont, Eureka and Walnut Creek will be closed.

The recyclables center will be closed as well in Mount Olive.

In Mount Olive, the household garbage pickup schedule will not change. However, yard waste pick up will be delayed by one day. Monday's route will be picked up on Tuesday and Tuesday's route on Wednesday.

The town board meeting that is normally held on the first Monday of the month has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12.

The Fremont public works department will be closed.

The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority will operate on a Saturday schedule on Labor Day. The bus service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Peggy Seegars Senior Center will be closed Labor Day.

Carolina Southern Sanitation will be closed Monday. Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday. Garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday. Routes will return to normal on Thursday.
