A Goldsboro man and a Wilson man were arrested Sunday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on gun and drug charges.

Tory Myelle Thompson, 42, of 2217 Slocumb St., and Clarence Amir Whitlor, 45, of 1008 Lincoln St., Wilson, were arrested during a traffic stop for a regulatory violation on South Slocumb Street.

Deputies with the Wayne County REACT Team reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming out of the car and searched the vehicle.

Deputies found a hidden firearm and 28 bindles of heroin.

According to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, both men were charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin and possession of marijuana.

Thompson was given a $30,000 secured bond and Whitlor was given a $20,000 secured bond.

"The REACT Team has stepped up their involvement inside the city of Goldsboro within the past two weeks," the press release reads. "Practically every night they have worked, guns and drugs have been seized."
