Schools to host open houses

Open house and orientation events for Wayne County Public Schools will be held later this week, in preparation for classes which resume next Monday, Aug. 29.

Three schools in the district -- Goldsboro High, Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College High School -- started earlier in the month.

Traditional schools will host back to school events in help students get a jump start on the upcoming school year.

Eastern Wayne Middle School will host a sixth grade open house today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Events will be held at the remaining schools on Wednesday and Thursday. Students will have the opportunity to meet teachers, pick up supply lists and find out daily class schedules.

Parents can also talk with teachers about their child's individual needs and discuss classroom expectations of the students.

On Wednesday, middle and high schools will have open house from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dillard Middle School will also host an open house for its Tiger Academy students and families from 4 to 5 p.m.

Brogden Middle will have a parent meeting at 5:30 p.m., with classroom visitations to follow.

Elementary school open houses will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Parents of Edgewood Community Developmental School students will be contacted directly to schedule individual appointments.
