The city of Goldsboro will host a public meeting for residents interested in the design of a new Herman Park Recreation Center.
The recreation advisory committee of the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department will offer the public meeting on Monday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Herman Park Center at 901 E. Ash St.
The informal, drop-in meeting will provide the public with the chance to provide input as part of the design process. Anyone interested in providing additional feedback may send suggestions to Scott Barnard, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation director, at sbarnard@goldsboronc.gov.
H.H. Architecture has been hired by the city to create designs for a new recreation center, a process expected to take three to six months, said Scott Stevens, city manager.
The current $39,500 service contract includes updating the Herman Park Center's master plan to reflect a new building and parking lot changes. The firm will also create building design plans, estimate construction costs and coordinate public meetings. Construction on a new building is anticipated to start during the summer of 2017, Stevens said.
