Man charged with filing false report

According to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Henry Marshall Pate Jr. made a false report to the police, claiming several people kidnapped a woman and held her hostage in a wooded area near 830 N.E. Church Road in Mount Olive on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies evacuated a day care near the area and put the Wayne County S.W.A.T. Team, airwatch and a K-9 handler on standby, according to the sheriff's office.
Duplin County deputies confirmed that one of the alleged kidnappers was incarcerated at the Duplin County detention center at the time.
Pate was taken to magistrate office and placed under a $5,000 secured bond, according to the sheriff's office.
