Duplin Community Foundation awards grants

KENANSVILLE -- The Duplin County Community Foundation Board has announced $6,000 in awards from its community grantmaking fund, said Bob Kornegay, board president.

This year's nonprofit recipients include:

* Albritton Recreation Park, Calypso, $570.

* Diversity Nurtures Achievement Community Youth Center for Summer Enrichment Center, $1,000.

* Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries for Feed Our Hungry Children/Summer Backpack Ministry, $1,000.

* Duplin County Cooperative Extension for 4-H Summer Camp, $500.

* Duplin County Sheriff's Office DARE Program, $1,000.

* Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina for Duplin Youth Career Skills, $900

* Pet Friends of Duplin County for low cost rabies clinic, $1,000

* The Outlaw Foundation, $700.

Kornegay thanked the community for support of the Duplin County Community Foundation.

"These grants are important to our community and our quality of life," he said. "Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Duplin County's community fund."

The Duplin County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Duplin County Community Fund, which is administered by the NCCF.

Contributions should be made payable to the Duplin County Community Fund and mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, Landmark Center, 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.
