Wreck closes highway

A wreck at the intersection of Arrington Bridge Road and Westbrook Road shut down traffic for a brief period around 5:45 p.m. Monday.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Arnette, a man was turning onto Westbrook Road off of Arrington Bridge Road, cut the turn too short and struck a vehicle head-on sitting at the stop light at the intersection of the two roads.
Theodore Allen Patterson, of 297 B Strawberry Lane, Mount Olive, was the alleged party at fault, Arnette said.
Martha Carter Bailey, of 171 Outlaw Road, Dudley, was driving the second car involved in the wreck. Both were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
