Airman dies while deployed

An airman stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base died Monday while on deployment in an undisclosed location in southwest Asia.

1st Lt. Anais Tobar, 25, from Miami, Fla., died Monday from what is being reported as "non-combat related injuries," according to a news release on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's website.

Tobar's death is under investigation, and details about Tobar's death are not immediately being released.

"The entire base joins me in sending our deepest sympathies to the Tobar family during this period of bereavement," said 4th Fighter Wing commander Col. Christopher Sage in a statement on the base's website. "The bonds that tie the Air Force family together are strong, both down-range and at home station. This tragedy affects us all; put your arm around those who are grieving, both personally and professionally."

Tobar was a member of the 4th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. According to a press release from the United States Department of Defense, Tobar was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
