Woman killed inside home

The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the murder of a woman that happened early this morning inside her home at 306 Wilmington Ave.
According to a press release, officers responded to a shots fired call and found 49-year-old Sonya Yvonne Darden inside the residence suffering from what police was a gunshot wound.
Wayne County EMS responded and pronounced Ms. Darden dead on the scene.
Sgt. Jeremy Sutton with the Goldsboro Police Department said the incident happened around 3:20 a.m.
Sutton could not say if Ms. Darden was killed by a single gunshot wound or multiple gunshot wounds.
"We can't say at this point. We have to wait for the results of the autopsy," Sutton said.
Sutton said he also could not say what type of gun was used in the murder, and could not comment on what led to Ms. Darden being killed.
"All of that is still under investigation. We're still in the initial stages of our investigation," Sutton said.
