DOT to host public meeting

The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold an open-house public meeting today for proposed improvements to U.S. 117, also known as North William Street, from the U.S. 70 bypass to U.S. 70.
The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Goldsboro Event Center, 1501 S. Slocumb St. DOT and consultant staff will be available to provide information on the project, answer questions and receive comments.
Comments received will be taken into consideration as the proposed project is reviewed for approval, said Jason Tyson, DOT Division 4 communications officer.
"This is a multi million dollar project," Tyson said. "It's being proposed. Right now, it's in the public comment phase."
