A man was arrested Sunday in connection with the June 23 robbery of Goldsboro Used Furniture at 151 N. Center St.

Philip Andrew Kirby, 30, of 209 Vinwood Ave., was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and served two unrelated orders for arrest.

The victim of the robbery, Wiley Williamson, told police that a white man entered the business around 11 a.m., hit him in the head several times with a metal object, took money out of his wallet and fled the scene.

Maj. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department said Kirby has not been interviewed about a motive for the robbery.

"Our guys worked pretty hard on it and were able to find a witness to talk to," Carmon said.

Carmon said he did not know what kind of metal object was used to bludgeon Williamson, and more than $200 was taken from Williamson's wallet during the robbery.

No items were stolen from the business.

Kirby is being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $60,000 secured bond. His first appearance in Wayne County Court is today.
