A Goldsboro man has been charged with 10 felonies and one misdemeanor in connection with the theft of three vehicles.
All three were recovered by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Joshua Ray Daniels, 22, of 137 Parks Road, was charged with three counts of felony larceny, three counts of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense, one count of felony attempted obtaining property by false pretense and one count of providing fictitious information to an officer. Daniels was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $101,000 secured bond.
The three vehicles were stolen during a 24-hour period between May 31 and June 1 while they were parked at a local garage for repairs. Each vehicle belonged to a separate person and were valued at $22,000.
An owner of one of the vehicles located the stolen car at a local salvage yard. After reporting it to the sheriff's office, investigators made calls to other salvage yards and located the other two stolen vehicles.
Multiple attempts were made to contact and interview Daniels, but to no avail -- Daniels was providing a fake name to law enforcement. Warrants were issued and Daniels was arrested Tuesday without incident.
Maj. Tom Effler with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said he did not know what type of vehicles were stolen or what name Daniels was providing to law enforcement that was fake.
