A Goldsboro man was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Monday after he was accused of hitting a woman in the face with a chicken.
James Clark McCullen, 52, of 259 Mills Road, was charged with assault on a female and communicating threats after allegedly grabbing a woman's hair, hitting her face with a chicken and repeatedly banging her head into the floor.
He is being held in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
After allegedly hitting the victim of the assault with the chicken, the victim reportedly hit McCullen with a plastic mug to make him let go of her and stop hitting her with the chicken.
According to the incident report, McCullen then got angry and allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and began slamming her head into the floor.
The victim used her fingernails to scratch McCullen in the face and get him off of her, then fled to McCullen's sister's house, the report said.
Maj. Tom Effler said the victim and McCullen live together, and that no further information was available about the assault.
