Wayne Pregnancy Care Center will host its second annual Run For Life 5K run/one-mile walk on Saturday, June 11, at Walnut Creek Town Hall.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the run/walk starts at 8.

There will also be family activities before and after the walk, including music, face painting and food.

The fundraiser supports programs at the Wayne Pregnancy Care Center, in Goldsboro, a ministry that offers practical assistance, resources and emotional support, as well as spiritual support, said Beverly Weeks, executive director.

"The Wayne Pregnancy Care Center board and staff are committed to continue providing free and confidential services to those in the community that need them," she said.

Funds are used to provide such services as pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, information on STDs and abstinence, as well as education on pregnancy, adoption, abortion risks and procedures. Clothing, furnishings and resources for mother and baby are also available through the baby boutique.

The center also has support groups, post-abortion healing support groups, Bible studies and other classes and workshops.

"Sponsored walkers will be raising support for our ongoing free services, which empower women to choose life for their babies and equip hundreds of teens to embrace a lifestyle of abstinence until marriage," Mrs. Weeks said.

The event is being co-chaired by Scott Johnson and Ray Fields, members of the Trifecta running team.

Walkers with pledges of $100 or more are eligible for a free T-shirt and prizes that have been donated by local businesses. Children and teens who have the most sponsors will also be eligible for prizes.

Anyone unable to walk on June 11 is encouraged to walk at another time and bring contributions to the center, 2003 E. Ash St.

All donations are tax deductible and remain in the local community.
