III Century Singers will perform its spring concert "Life, Light and Liberty" Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Goldsboro and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.
The civic chorus was formed to celebrate the nation's bicentennial in 1976, and has performed ever since.
Its 40th anniversary theme respects the patriotic origin of the group. The music is a mix of Americana. There will also be a setting of passages from the writings of Thomas Jefferson, arranged by Randall Thompson. An instrumental ensemble will accompany the singers on this arrangement.
III Century Singers is composed of 31 singers, accompanied by Mike Nault on the piano and directed by Dr. Carl Ashley. The concerts are free. Donations will be accepted.
