Two charged for heroin possession

A local man and woman were arrested and charged for possessing heroin after the Wayne County Sheriff's Office completed a search of the Economy Inn on West Grantham Street over the weekend.
Heather Sugg, 26, and Josh Santos, 26, both residing at 902 W. Grantham St., were each charged with one count of possession of heroin and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia on Friday.
Ms. Sugg was placed under a $1,000 secured bond in the Wayne County Jail, while Santos was placed under a $500 secured bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team was assisting with a probation enforcement roundup on Friday when they searched a motel room where Santos and Ms. Sugg were residing.
During the search the team found heroin and drug paraphernalia belonging to both Santos and Ms. Sugg.
"Probation (enforcement teams) have the right to search rooms and they do it at random sometimes," said Maj. Tom Effler with the Wayne County Sheriffs Office. "When they do that, a lot of times they ask our guys to go with them and assist them and we do the charging. I don't know if they had a tip to search that room or if it was a random search."
