The vehicle belonging to a man accused of shooting to death David Vasquez, 47, near Mount Olive on Saturday has been located in LaGrange.
Maj. Tom Effler with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said a Chevrolet truck, burgundy and tan in color, was located after a citizen spotted the vehicle and called it in.
The location of the murder suspect -- Omar Guajardo Acuna, also known as Omar Ocuna Fajardo -- is still unknown.
Effler said the sheriff's office is not releasing the type of weapon used in Saturday's murder, and the sheriff's department cannot release the severity Vasquez's wounds that led to his death until after the autopsy is completed.
"Our Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is working to locate him," Effler said.
The 32-year-old Acuna allegedly shot Vasquez with an unknown weapon just after 1 p.m. Saturday before fleeing the scene of the crime at 271 Zion Church Road in Mount Olive.
Acuna is a Hispanic man, standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. He is confined to a wheelchair, and was able to escape the scene in the vehicle that was recovered by the sheriff's office due to having special hand controls installed that enabled him to drive.
Acuna goes by the street name "Twin." His last known address is N.C. 403 West near Faison.
Acuna is considered to be armed and dangerous, and anyone with information on his whereabouts should not take action on their own, but instead call 911, or contact local law enforcement.
Detective Eric Pierce is the lead detective on the case, and can be reached at 919-731-1481. Anyone with information on Acuna's whereabouts can also call Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
