The 12th annual Lobster and Shrimp Fest is fast approaching, with the deadline for ordering tickets this Friday. The Partnership for Children of Wayne County is taking orders for the event, which will be held Friday, May 6.
The public is invited to purchase $25 tickets for either 1.25 pounds of Maine lobster or an equal value in shrimp. Lobsters will be available either live or cooked, and shrimp can be ordered either cooked or frozen.
While individual tickets are available, the Partnership is also looking for those who will host lobster parties in their homes and invite guests to purchase tickets. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible, said Charlie Ivey, executive director of the Partnership.
"Proceeds go toward various projects and services provided by the Partnership," he said. "These include fellowships for child care teachers who are continuing their education at Wayne Community College or the University of Mount Olive, training for child care providers and parents, as well as events for preschool children during the year.
"The Partnership for Children's mission is to provide or connect families with early care and education, health and family support services needed for young children. Improving child care quality through teacher education is one of the Partnership's major objectives."
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Partnership office at 919-735-3371, extension 221 or 227 or from a board member or committee member.
Orders can be picked up at the Partnership office on May 6, between noon and 6 p.m.
