The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the attempted murder of a Dudley man after an acquaintance shot him in the head this morning.
The report stated that deputies were dispatched to 664B Durham Lake Road in Dudley around 1 a.m. in response to a shooting.
Christopher Chad Craft, 42, was found shot in the head, but conscious and alert when the officers arrived.
While there, the reports stated that Brittany Lee Brown, the witness, said that her boyfriend, Christopher Chad Craft, had been shot in the head. Craft was conscious and alert when the officer arrived, according to reports.
According to the reports, Ms. Brown said that the acquaintance, identified only as "Tripp," had been visiting the couple and that Craft had done a tattoo for him while he was there.
The reports stated that the suspect stayed in the apartment after the couple had gone to bed, and that Ms. Brown said he was acting strangely all night. The couple was then awakened by the suspect standing next to their bed, brandishing a handgun and saying "Who sent you," and "It's too dark you're setting me up," according to reports.
Ms. Brown tried to show the suspect that there was no one else in the apartment with them, but he shot Craft in the head and fled the scene.
Craft was transported to Vidant Hospital in Greenville, according to the reports.
