Goldsboro will soon be getting a Chipotle and a Vitamin Shoppe that will be part of a new shopping center to be constructed on Berkeley Boulevard at the corner of Cashwell Drive and Berkeley Boulevard.
Chipotle, a chain of fast food restaurants throughout the United States that specializes in burritos and tacos, submitted its plans for the interior upfit design of the future shopping center on Jan. 15.
The Vitamin Shoppe, a retail chain that sells health supplements such as vitamins, protein powder and more, filed its plans for the interior upfit design of the building on March 24.
This development will call for the demolition of the existing Exxon gas station currently sitting at the corner of the two streets, though Chief Inspector Allen Anderson and Planning Director James Rowe said the city has not yet received any demolition plans or issued any demolition permits for the work.
But, plans for the future 18,387-square-foot shopping center development were approved by the Goldsboro City Council last year.
A portion of the old Tractor Supply Co. building at 2901 Cashwell Drive has already been demolished to accommodate future development, and is also expected to house retail stores or restaurants alongside the completion of the future shopping center.
The portion of the building at 2901 Cashwell Drive that was demolished was demolished last week, near the same time that The Vitamin Shoppe submitted its interior design plans. There is currently no estimated date for the groundbreaking and completion of the shopping center that will house Chipotle, The Vitamin Shoppe and other retail stores.
