MOUNT OLIVE -- With the 30th annual North Carolina Pickle Festival just six weeks away, now is the time for prospective vendors and sponsors to finalize their festival plans.

The early-bird vendor applications are due Tuesday, March 15.

The festival draws tens of thousands to downtown Mount Olive every year. The 30th annual event is set for Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The festival is accepting applications for food, commercial, nonprofit, arts and crafts, and information vendors.

After the early-bird March 15 deadline, a $75 late charge applies. Also, some categories tend to fill up more quickly than others.

"We accept applications on a first-come, first served basis, and for food vendors especially we try to limit the types and variety of foods so that everyone can make a profit," said Faith Whitfield, festival vendor chairperson. "Because of that, we encourage all who would like to have a booth at the N.C. Pickle Festival to apply early."

The festival is also seeking sponsors for this year's event.

"The N.C. Pickle Festival offers a wonderful opportunity to get your business in front of thousands of potential customers," said Lynn Williams, festival co-chairperson. "We have a variety of sponsor packages designed to fit varying budgets and needs, and we can always work with you to create a package unique to your organization and goals."

Most sponsorship applications are due by April 1 to guarantee inclusion in festival print materials. But some have an earlier deadline of March 18. Several sponsorship packages have already been spoken for, Ms. Williams said.
