Two men with out-of-town addresses who had the fresh idea to break into a Goldsboro Subway restaurant are being held in the Wayne County Detention Center today.

A phone call to police by a witness who heard glass breaking and who saw two men running from the business led to their capture.

Marcus Keonte Lashley, 22, of Black Creek, and Stephen Montreal Moye, 25, of Jarratt, Va., are both confined under $5,000 secured bonds on charges attempted breaking and entering, according to a Goldsboro Police Department press release.

The failed break-in took place at 3:20 a.m. today at the Subway located at 2102 Wayne Memorial Drive. The 911 caller said the men were running toward U.S. Highway 70.

Police responding to the call were able to locate Lashley and Moye -- one in the median and the other near a residence at 1408 North Drive -- after crossing the highway, the release said.

Police officers found the front door glass and a south side window of the store shattered, but entry was not gained, according to the release.
