A Goldsboro man is jail today after he was caught breaking into cars in the Jefferson Court Apartment complex late Thursday.

Patrick Irvan Divers, 19, of 903 S. Best St., is charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, financial transaction card theft, possession of stolen property, larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a malt beverage or unfortified wine by a 19- or 20-year-old.

Divers is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $15,500 secured bond.

According to a Goldsboro Police Department press release, a resident in the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue called 911 at about 8:30 p.m. to report a black man sitting in her vehicle which was parked outside her residence. Police arrived and confronted Divers who took off but was caught after a brief foot chase.

Officers discovered two cars were broken into and recovered the stolen property. Neither vehicle was damaged.
