Wayne County public schools closed today

Wayne County Public Schools made the decision around 8 a.m. today to cancel classes for both students and staff. The threat of inclement weather had earlier prompted officials to announce Sunday evening that schools would operate on a two-hour delay. Around 7:30 a.m. this morning, the district upgraded that to a three-hour delay before determining road conditions might warrant the closure. The district had also closed schools on Friday for similar reasons, along with Saturday, which was to have been a make-up day for Wayne Middle/High Academy. The make-up day for today's closure will be this Saturday, Feb. 20. All schools will follow an early dismissal schedule that day.
