Southeastern Cancer Care "Cures for the Colors" 6th annual Walk/Run fundraiser will be held April 22-23 at Wayne Community College. The event will consist of an individual 5k, a 100 mile team, and a 1 mile walk/run.

This year's events are:

On Friday, April 22 there will be a Family Night beginning at 5 p.m., with hot dogs, hamburgers and chips, children's activities, entertainment and an opening ceremony at 7 at which there will be a speaker and balloon and lantern release.

On Saturday, there will be an individual 5-kilometer run, a one-mile walk/run and a team 100-mile run.

Southeastern Cancer Care's goal is to assist cancer patients in Eastern North Carolina with food, utilities, gas, prescription drugs and other needs as they undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatment or are within one year of recovery.

Through generous donations received in 2015 from surrounding communities, SCC was able to raise more than $283,000. With no paid staff all proceeds go to assist cancer patients.
