A Goldsboro man wanted on several felony arrest warrants for probation violation issued after he allegedly shot at police offers during a traffic stop Nov. 30, 2015, has been captured in Maryland, according to a press release.

Shadell Issiah Barksdale, 25, of Goldsboro, was stopped on Interstate 95 by the Maryland Transportation Authority at approximately 5:15 p.m. Monday for speeding and following too closely, the release said.

Barksdale gave the officers a fake name and he was charged with multiple traffic violations including driving on a suspended license. He was taken to the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Facility to await extradition to N.C.

MDTA Police Chief Col. Jerry Jones lauded the efforts of his officers in keeping Marylanders safe. He then went on to speak about the dangerous situations the men and women in law enforcement encounter on a daily basis.

"This arrest also highlights the dangers law enforcement faces across the country in our communities and along our highways," Jones said.

No one from the Goldsboro Police Department was available to comment at the time of this report.
