A Dudley man is charged with driving while intoxicated and a host of other charges after trying to run from Wayne County Sheriff's deputies during a traffic stop Christmas Day.
The suspect's vehicle was later determined to have been stolen out of Texas, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office press release.
Carlos Reshaen Wright, 40, of 175 Boseman Lane, is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, DWI, resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, driving while license revoked and speeding. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $53,500 secured bond.
According to the report, sheriff's deputies with the DWI Task Force stopped Wright on U.S. 117 South Dec. 25 at 12:15 a.m. Wright was determined to be driving under the influence, but before he could be placed in handcuffs he managed to flee on foot and elude the deputies.
Additional patrol deputies and a Goldsboro Police Department K-9 unit responded to help locate Wright, but instead it was the night watchman at a nearby salvage yard that apprehended him. According to the press release, the security guard detained Wright as he attempted to steal a van on the property of the salvage yard.
Wright was scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court Monday for a first appearance.
