Local offices close for holiday

Local, state and federal offices, banks and the post office will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, for the New Year's Day holiday.
Town halls in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Walnut Creek, Fremont, Pikeville and Eureka will be closed on New Year's Day. In Mount Olive, yard waste will be picked up through Thursday.
Wayne County public schools will be closed as well as the system's central office.
Wayne County offices, the landfill and solid waste convenience centers and the Peggy Seegars Senior Center also will be closed Jan. 1.
The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority will operate on a normal schedule on Thursday, Dec. 31. It will operate from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1. The last bus will leave the transfer station at 5:30 p.m.
