Two more candidates have filed for the Wayne County Board of Education just ahead of Monday's filing deadline.

Len Henderson, who previously served on the board, filed Friday for the District 2 seat now held by Dr. Dwight Cannon.

Henderson of Dudley was appointed in August of 2010 to complete the unexpired term of Shirley Sims who had stepped down after moving to Garner.

He completed the final two years of the term, but lost out to Cannon in the 2012 election.

Cannon has yet to file and the deadline is Monday at noon.

Also filing on Friday was Taj Jamal Polack of Goldsboro who filed in District 3.

Incumbent District 3 board member Patricia Burden filed last Tuesday. The at-large seat now held by Eddie Radford is also up for election. Radford has said he will not seek re-election.

Ven Faulk of Dudley has filed for that seat.

School board elections are nonpartisan.

Candidates for district, statewide and national offices file at the state Board of Elections office in Raleigh. Legislative candidates file in their home counties.
