The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a local gas station late Thursday night.
The incident took place about an hour before closing.
An unknown black man entered the Wilco Hess at 400 E. Ash St. at 10:53 p.m., pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, according to a police report.
The store clerk, an 18-year-old female, handed over $87 in cash from the register. The suspect then walked around the counter, grabbed two packs of Newport cigarettes and walked out the door. He then headed south on foot, the report said.
"The only description is that he had on a black jacket, a blue shirt and black shoes, Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
