A 21-year teacher at Grantham School and now Grantham Middle School has been named 2015 athletic director of the year by the N.C. Association for Athletic Education as its 2015 athletic director of the year.

Jeff Bradley, school athletic director since 2002, was recognized during the association's 67th annual conference held recently in Winston-Salem. The N.C. Association for Athletic Education is a subdivision of the N.C. Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports Management.

His accomplishment was acknowledged during the recent Board of Education meeting, with board member Jennifer Strickland congratulating him on the distinction.

"This award reflects Mr. Bradley's outstanding qualities and professional contributions as an athletic director," she said. "The state association (said) he earned the award because of his dedication to attaining and maintaining the knowledge and skills to provide optimum athletic education for his school's coaches and student athletes, as well as for his dedication to attaining professional development and enhancing leadership skills for athletic education."

Bradley earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master's degree in elementary education from Campbell University. In 2004, he successfully completed his National Board Certification and has since renewed the certification.
