Goldsboro police arrested one man just minutes after he allegedly broke into the Hardee's on East Ash Street, early Sunday, and another man at a McDonald's on charges in another case.
The first call came in at 4:22 a.m. Sunday when an alarm sounded at the Hardee's restaurant on East Ash Street. Officers responded and located Joshua Lee West, 23, in the area, according to a press release issued this morning.
Security camera footage from inside the restaurant identified West as the suspect, and he was placed into custody and charged with felony breaking and entering. After being transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital to be treated for a hand injury and heroin withdrawal, West was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond, according to the release.
Hours later, evidence found in a Goldsboro man's possession and in his home Sunday led to his arrest as investigators were able to link him to several motor-vehicle break-ins in the city.
Police caught up with Jowell Demetrius Edwards, 27, at the McDonald's located at 300 N. Berkeley Blvd., and took him into custody after receiving a call at 6:27 a.m. that he had tried using a stolen credit card at a nearby gas station.
In a separate press release, the Police Department said a warrant executed on Edwards' home at 114 Spruce St. turned up enough evidence to charge him with three counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, four counts of possession of stolen goods, five counts of financial transaction card theft, and a single count each of attempt to obtain property by false pretense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Edwards was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $31,000 secured bond.
Both West and Edwards are due to appear in Wayne County District Court later today.
