In an incident much like the carjacking that took place in the city last week, a man in Wayne County was robbed at gunpoint and his vehicle stolen Sunday.
Both the Sheriff's Office and Goldsboro Police Department said the two cases had not been discussed between the agencies, but agreed there were similarities between the two incidents. Both cases have been assigned to investigators.
Christian Morales Tejada of 144 Running Branch Circle told investigators with the Sheriff's Office that a slender black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall armed with a silver handgun was waiting for him as he arrived home Sunday night at 9:15 p.m., according to the police report.
When Tejada got out of his vehicle to go inside his home, the suspect allegedly came up behind him and hit him over the head with the butt of the gun. He then told Tejada to give him the car keys or he would shoot, the report said.
The suspect fled with Tejada's black 2006 Volkswagen Passat. State Highway Patrol troopers later located the vehicle abandoned in a field.
Capt. Richard Lewis of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division said he could not say whether the two cases are linked.
"Right now I can't say they are connected," he said.
