Assault reported on George Street

Goldsboro police are investigating an early Saturday morning assault in which the victim was also shot at on the 1700 block of North George Street.
Roger Raynor, 56, 1701 N. George St., told police he was walking along the block around 1:40 Saturday morning when a car pulled up next to him.
Raynor said a black male in the car pulled a gun on him and told him to get down on his knees.
When he refused to comply, the man struck Raynor on the arm with the butt of the gun. Police said Raynor sustained minor injuries.
The suspect got into the car and as he drove off fired a shot in the direction of Raynor.
The police report did not specify the type of weapon used or if more than one person was involved.
Raynor told police he did not know the man who assaulted him.
