Three more shootings took place in the city overnight Thursday and into this morning, according to Goldsboro police reports.
One man survived being shot at during an alleged drug deal gone bad. The suspect in that shooting is now in jail while Goldsboro police are still investigating what sent two other men to Wayne Memorial Hospital suffering from shotgun wounds in a separate incident.
Robert Stephen Fortner, 38, 809 Prince Ave., told police he was having a prearranged meeting at his home at about 8:15 p.m. with another man, Corderius Leamon Holmes, 28.
During the meeting, Holmes allegedly robbed Fortner at gunpoint, taking prescription pills from him. Holmes then fired the weapon at Fortner while pointing it at him, then fled the scene, according to the police report. Investigators said the scene showed signs of a struggle, but no one was struck by the shots fired during the incident.
Police located Holmes a short time later and the man, riding a red scooter, attempted to flee, according to a press release.
Officers made attempts to stop the scooter while Holmes allegedly tossed items including the stolen pills and the handgun used to commit the robbery, the release said. Officers were able to retrieve the items as the chase continued.
Holmes eventually crashed the scooter and was arrested outside a residence at 704 S. Pineview Ave. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting a public officer, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle and simple possession of a controlled substance.
Holmes was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $350,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in Wayne County District Court Aug. 17.
In a separate incident, Goldsboro police were called to the scene of a shooting at the America's Best Value Inn at 701 U.S. Highway 70 E. at 2:57 a.m. this morning. Officers arrived at the scene to find three upstairs rooms with gunshot damage, according to the report.
Officers then received information that two victims had arrived at Wayne Memorial Hospital not long after the shooting.
The first victim, Anthony Dwayne Jackson, 32, suffered gunshot wounds to the face, shoulder and abdomen.
The second victim, Montrel Demontrio Allen, 40, was struck in the chest.
Allen has been treated and released and Jackson is listed in stable condition, according to a Goldsboro Police Department press release. The suspect is described only as a black male.
