Goldsboro police identify man wanted for murder of teenager

The Goldsboro Police Department has identified and secured arrest warrants for one of the men it says is responsible for the Aug. 8 shooting death of Jerome Lavelle Barnes Jr. outside a convenience store at the intersection of South Slocumb and East Elm streets.

Barnes was shot outside the Donel Express Mart at 518 S. Slocumb St. Saturday at about 3:30 p.m. He died at 7:20 p.m. at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Police identified two persons of interest from security camera footage captured inside the store. Thursday, warrants were secured for the arrest of one of the suspects on charges of an open count on murder.

Rashad Terel Daniels, 22, is described as a black man approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. He is from the Goldsboro and LaGrange area and is to be considered armed and dangerous.
