Homes across the city continued to be hit by gunfire throughout the morning while police were still working the crime scene.
• At 2:45 a.m., a woman, Angel LaShunda Ray, 35, heard shots fired in the 700 block of East Pine Street before realizing she had been hit in the right leg and left foot. She was taken by personal vehicle to Wayne Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment.
• At 3:05 a.m., bullets struck the residence at 201 S. Alabama Ave. Several bullets tore into the home causing interior wall damage while four additional rounds struck a Buick Century parked outside.
• Bullets also hit homes at 417 and 303 Fussell Street earlier in the day, and shots were reported at North George Street and North Carolina Street.
With no evidence to indicate either way, Carmon could not say for sure which shootings were connected and which ones were not.
"We don't have any information to say they were; we don't have any information to say they weren't," he said.
Carmon asked that anyone with information regarding the murder -- or any of the other shootings around the city Saturday -- to come forward.
"We hope that if anyone sees anything with regard to people trying to shoot other people, give us a call," he said. "We definitely would like to put a stop to this. And we desperately would like the public's help," Carmon said.
Anyone with information regarding any of the shootings is asked to call Investigator Patelos at 919-580-4217, or Sgt. Jeremy Sutton at 919-580-4210. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 818-222-4230. Tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
