Man dies in truck crash

A Faison area man was killed late Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in Sampson County.
The Sampson County Highway Patrol said Spencer Allen King, 33, of Preacher Henry Road, died as the result of injuries sustained in the wreck that happened around 4:45 p.m.
King was traveling west in a pickup truck on Preacher Henry Road (State Road 1730) just west of its intersection with Dallie Road (State Road 1721) about 13 miles east of Newton Grove and just south of N.C. 55.
King's truck ran off the right side of the road striking a ditch, a culvert and wooden post, according to the NCHP report.
He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck.
The truck overturned, coming to rest on its side on top of him.
The speed limit on that road is 55 mph and the NCHP estimated that the truck was traveling at 75 mph when the accident occurred.
